CLArchitects have obtained planning permission and delivered this inspiring new Garden Classroom Block, located within the serene gardens of Earlscliffe School in Grimston Gardens, Folkestone.
Conveniently positioned near the existing facilities at No. 25 Grimston Gardens, the classroom block shares the existing access path, integrating seamlessly with the school’s layout. The site and design were carefully planned to meet the school’s requirements while minimizing any potential impact on the surrounding residential area.
The structure is designed with a pavilion-like aesthetic, featuring large openings that connect to a covered patio overlooking the grassed area. Inside, the building houses two classrooms that can be combined into one large space, creating a flexible, open environment that embraces the natural surroundings.
The design emphasizes horizontal lines, with a striking canopy extending beyond the building’s footprint to create a sense of fluidity. Clad in timber with natural, warm tones, the classroom block evokes a feeling of openness and harmony with its environment. Generous glazed openings beneath the canopy offer uninterrupted views in and out of the space, enhancing the connection to the garden setting.
