PLANNING ON CHERITON HIGH STREET

CLArchitects are pleased to announce that planning consent has been obtained for block of flats on Cheriton High Street. The scheme involves the replacement of the existing workshops to the rear of the site to enable the construction of a block of 5 contemporary flats to the rear of the site whilst our clients Folkestone and Walmer Tiles will trade from a refurbished showroom facing the High Street.


NEW FLATS BEHIND MUSIC BAY

Construction has started on site to create an exciting modern block of flats at the rear of the former music shop on Cheriton High Street. The development will contain 4 flats and the works are being undertaken by local contractors Arkay Building Services.

 

NEW SPORTS PAVILION FOR ASHFORD SCHOOL AT GREAT CHART SPORTS FIELDS

Ashford School have recently completed their new sports fields at their Great Chart site; these facilities include rugby, cricket and football pitches. Proposals for a new landmark Sports Pavilion being the centre piece for the Sports Fields have been submitted to Ashford Borough Council.

The contemporary low-lying structure flows with the landscape offering views out over the sports pitches for both parents and students to enjoy.

 

NEW NURSERY FOR ASHFORD SCHOOL SUBMITTED FOR PLANNING

CL Architects are delighted to have submitted a planning application for a New Nursery for Ashford Prep School at Great Chart. The Nursery creates a high quality facility that can accomodate up to 60 children in an environment that reflects the schools ethos for 'adventurous Learning'.

PLANNING CONSCENT RECEIVED FOR HIGHFIELD SOUTHFARNHAM SCHOOL, SURREY

Planning Consent was received today for a new classroom block for Highfield South Primary School in Farnham. The new block will comprise of 6 classrooms, staff accommodation and toilet facilities. The designs took into account the schools values to provide an attractive, dynamic and energy efficient building.

PLANNING PERMISSION GRANTED FOR VALEBROOK MEWS, FOLKESTONE

CLArchitects are delighted to announce that recently submitted application for planning permission for works to Valebrook Mews has been granted. The proposals will see a conversion of the existing 3-storey workshop into two flats on the first and second floor and an office on the ground floor.

The construction is anticipated to start in July 2017.

CABRIDGE TERRACE - NEW APPOINTMENT

CL Architects are delighted to announce their appointment to appraise the re-development of Cambridge Terrace on Dover’s Waterfront.

Construction works are ongoing for the western docks waterfront revival and the grade 2 listed Cambridge Terrace forms the gateway on entering the waterfront. CL Architects have been working closely with Octavia Estates and the Port of Dover to realise the opportunities these incredible Buildings offer.

This appointment follows on from obtaining planning consent for the residential conversion of Protea House.

NEW LIFE CHURCH IN CANTERBURY HAS BEEN COMPLETED

CLArchitects have successfully delivered the change of use of a former light industrial unit into a Church for New Life Church, Centerbury.

Our appointment included the space planning, detail design and on site monitoring of the works.

The conversion includes a large assembly hall, social space, private worship space along with the ancillary accommodation creating a vibrant for the community to enjoy.

PROTEA HOUSE GRANTED PLANNING CONSENT

CL Architects have obtained planning consent for the conversion of the grade 2 listed Protea House for Dover Harbour Board.

The building faces the harbour offering incredible views of the channel; the consent includes 9 flats over five floors. CL Architects worked closely with the council conservation officer to ensure that the historic fabric of the building is retained and enhanced as part of the conversion.

PART 2 ARCHITECTURAL ASSISTANT OPPORTUNITY - POSITION CLOSED

CL Architects is looking to appoint a Part 2 Architectural Assistant to join our growing team to work on one of several exciting new commissions.

Applicants must have the followings skills:

  • Excellent communication skills (Written and verbal English must be to a very high standard)
  • Higher education studies (At least at a postgraduate level)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop and SketchUp
  • Design flair evident in a well-presented portfolio of work
  • Previous practice experience in the UK (1-2 years) is desirable
  • The practice is gradually incorporating Revit so a good understanding of the program would be advantageous
  • Having your own car would be advantageous

You will be rewarded with a competitive salary as well as support towards your Part3 qualification.

We work from 09:00 to 17:30 Monday to Friday. Our office is in a central location in Folkestone with easy access to the Shops and Train & Bus Stations.

PROTEA HOUSE SUBMITTED FOR PLANNING

CLA submitted a planning application for the conversion of Protea House to Dover District Council. Protea House is the end three terrace houses of the grade 2 listed Waterloo Crescent on the Dover Waterfront. It forms part of the conservation area. The project is due to start on site in early 2017.

PROGRESS ON SITE AT PROSPECT FARM

Construction work continues to progress well on a new single storey dwelling at Prospect Farm in Hawkinge. The project began in June 2016 and is due to be complete in February 2017. Key progress to date; the sedum roof is complete while external cladding and plastering are progressing well.

HIGHFIELD SOUTH PRIMARY SCHOOL SUBMITTED FOR PLANNING

A planning application was submitted today for Highfield South Primary School in Farnham. This will see a new state of the art one form entry classroom block comprising of 6 classrooms, staff room and toilet facilities. The building has been designed to reflect the school’s ethos giving a modern warming environment with a mix of timber and metal cladding giving a fun, playful rhythm to the facades with splashes of colour adding vibrancy.

3 HILLS EXTENSION - CONSTRUCTION BEGINS

Having completed the detail package for local contractors Arkay Building Services, CLA were pleased to see construction work begin today on the extension to 3 Hills Sports Centre in Folkestone. The proposal will be a steel frame with Cedar cladding to match the main body of the sports hall. The extension is due to open in December 2016.

VALEBROOK MEWS SUBMITTED FOR PLANNING

Planning submission made for the conversion of a cluster of existing workshops off Broadmead Road in Folkestone. The proposals will see the convertion of the first and second floors into a 2 bedroom flat and a single bedroom flat whilst the ground floor will be an office and storage unit for the client’s existing business.

PROSPECT FARM - HARRY BARNES BEGIN CONSTRUCTION

Construction work began today at Prospect Farm in Hawkinge with Harry Barnes the appointed contractors. The proposals will see a new contemporary single-storey dwelling designed to nestle into the countryside minimising its visual impact. The project is due to be complete in February 2017.

BOWER WOOD FARM - SPRINKS CONSTRUCTION APPOINTED

Sprinks Contractors have been appointed to construct a new 4 bedrooms detached chalet bungalow. The replacement bungalow is set in a beautiful 22-acre plot in Stelling Minnis. The project is due to be complete in 2017.

PLANNING CONSENT RECEIVED - SURRENDEN BUNGALOW, PLUCKLEY

Planning Consent was today received for the conversion of Surrenden Bungalow - a private secluded dwelling which has seen several adaptations and extensions over time. The proposals will see a re-modelling of the existing bungalow into a harmonious two storey cottage that is in keeping with the original building.
The project is due to be complete in early 2017.

ASHFORD SCHOOL MASTERPLAN, ASHFORD KENT

CL Architects recently completed work on a new masterplan for the Ashford School - an independent co-educational private day school in the heart of Ashford town. The over-arching driver for the School was to upgrade and expand the buildings on the respective sites to support modern teaching practices, and to meet the needs and expectations of their students. The scheme includes the refurbishment and extension of the Flour Mill on East Hill incorporating dramatic new flexible teaching spaces.
